OUR STORY

All of our eclectic talents at the ready

Mike Norton began his career as a chef at Pizza Hut when he was 16 years old.

Then, later, he cooked at Chic-fil-A, before joining the United States Navy. While serving his country in the Middle East, he learned how to cook a variety of dishes from different cultures, mainly thanks to the diverse range of teammates he served with who were willing to teach him.

After an honorable discharge, he worked at Bonefish Grill and Friendly’s while pursuing a college degree with his GI Bill benefits.

Due to a series of unfortunate events, Mike Norton ended up living in the Chinese wilderness for four years.

Surviving almost entirely alone in the extreme seasonally changing temperatures and high altitudes of the Shaanxi mountains with little more than a knife, bow, and arrow, Mike applied his knowledge in the culinary arts to harvest all-natural ingredients and convert them into highly delicious, nutritious, and unique dishes that didn’t belong to any particular culture but his own.

Enter Norton's Gourmet, now a family venture.

After bouncing back to become an entrepreneurial world traveler, Mike started Norton’s Gourmet to pass down his culinary knowledge and skills to the next generation of Nortons, while teaching his children entrepreneurship.

Long Voyage Shrimp

SEAFOOD

Stir-fried diced jumbo shrimp flambéd with fine rum and seasonal vegetables, seasoned with a blend of Asian sauces, ginger, and garlic.

Norse Peak Chicken

POULTRY

Diced boneless chicken breasts, flambéd with a rare, blended Nordic herbal liquor and seasonal vegetables, seasoned with mixed Asian sauces, ginger, and garlic.


Northern Nomad's Crab

SEAFOOD

Steamed Alaskan king crab, flambéd with fine rum ignited within the crab's shell with the family's signature seafood sauce, served with seasonal vegetables.

Sweet Home Chicken

POULTRY

Crispy, deep-fried, diced chicken breasts flambéd with a fine dry gin, seasoned with the family's signature honey sauce over seasonal vegetables.


Southbound Salmon

SEAFOOD

Stir-fried diced red salmon flambéd with fine rum and seasonal vegetables, seasoned with a blend of Asian sauces, ginger, and garlic.

Viking's Venison

MEAT

Diced premium venison hunted by the chef himself, flambéd with a rare, blended Nordic herbal liquor over seasonal vegetables, walnuts, and almonds.


Legend's Lobster

SEAFOOD

Steamed lobster, flambéd with fine rum ignited within the lobster's shell with the family's signature seafood sauce, served with seasonal vegetables.


Even though Norton's Gourmet is currently an at-home small business, rest assured that kitchen areas in either the Alaskan or European home have been converted into a clean laboratory, and all professional gear is used (such as professional chef caps) for hygiene.

OUR FAMILY

Just a dad being a dad

The backstory and dishes featured on this website are all real, as you can verify in the videos, pictures, and scheduled livestreams.

However, as a family, we have no physical location other than our own homes at the moment.

I started this small business to seize an educational opportunity to teach my kids both how to cook, as well as how to run a basic online business. For their safety, they will almost always be behind the camera, learning from everything that I do. Learning from my example both on-camera and off, from small business and product/service development to marketing.

Currently, the only thing we can actually sell online is our signature lemonade.

However, if we are able to build an audience in key locations via the power of social media, who are receptive to our story and work, we'll use your feedback as market research to open a legitimate restaurant selling these dishes.

When my kids come of age and inherit this brand, its recipes, and following, the sky's the limit, and where they take this restaurant idea is up to them. 👍
